Marla

Marla is Professor Dynamo’s wife; the two of them have been married for thirty-one years. She mends with her own hands the jacket he is forever tearing, and every anniversary he sets about choosing her a gift. To Dynamo, she is the steadiest ground in his life.

“I hope I didn't rip my jacket again, Marla just sewed it…”

“希望我的外套没再撕破，玛拉刚把它缝好了…”

When his life hangs by a thread, it is her he thinks of.

“I'm not leaving Marla a widow…”

“我不会让玛拉成为寡妇…”

That is exactly why she has become the weightiest bargaining chip in other hands. Both voices of the Patrons make use of her: The Archmother reminds the Professor that Marla is counting on him and he must not let her down; The Hidden King says that if he longs to feel her hand once more, he must summon The Hidden King. Drifter goes further still, and threatens her life.

“Marla is counting on you, Professor, don't let her down.”

“玛拉指望着你，教授，不要让她失望”

“You long to feel Marla's hand once more, Professor? Then you must summon The Hidden King.”

“教授，您渴望再次感受玛拉的手吗？那么你必须召唤隐王”

“Don't worry, Dynamo, your wife'll be joining you soon enough.”

Calico once assured the Professor that she was safe; when Lash spoke of her slightingly, the Professor told him to respect his wife. Ask him what he wants most to do, and he has only one answer.

“I believe you mean "The Patron", but to answer your question: give Marla a hug and not let go for about 3 months.”
