A second chance bought at a price
The Pact with Oathkeeper is the bargain Lady Geist struck with Oathkeeper to win back her youth and prolong her life. Little is known of its terms; all anyone knows is that it bought her a new life, and left a heavy debt behind.
Lady Geist has never hidden that she paid a price. When she speaks of it, there is bitterness in her voice, yet not a trace of regret.
“I paid a terrible price for a second chance…and I would gladly pay it again.”
“为了第二次机会，我付出了可怕的代价……但我甘愿再付一次。”TL
She denies having sold her soul. As she sees it, this was no fall from grace: she did it to save her life.
“I didn't sell my soul… I saved my life.”
“我没有出卖灵魂…我是为了保命。”TL
Not everyone is persuaded by her choice. Grey Talon says bluntly that she was a fool to make a deal with that thing. Faced with the charge, Lady Geist answers calmly that she is in control.
“You were a fool to make a deal with that thing.”
“你跟那个东西做交易真是个傻瓜”
“Please, I'm in control.”
“放心，一切尽在掌握”
Seven is no more hopeful. When Lady Geist asked him what he knew about Oathkeeper, his answer came close to a warning: Faustian bargains rarely have happy endings.
“I know that Faustian bargains rarely have happy endings.”
“我知道浮士德式的讨价还价很少有圆满的结局”
What Oathkeeper has demanded, and when it will come to collect, no one can yet say for certain.
Whatever the case, the bargain has become the mark on Lady Geist that is hardest to erase. She sums up her choice in a single line:
“Beauty doesn't need to fade…”
