The Arctic Expedition

The Arctic Expedition was a venture led by Kelvin himself, its goal to find an Astral Gate of legend, the eighth. The team pushed deep into the Arctic and never came back. Only a year and a half later was Kelvin found, and by then he was a dead man. What happened out on the ice remains a mystery, and Kelvin is still searching for answers.

That team was Kelvin's Arctic Expedition. The money behind it came from Lady Geist. Looking back, Kelvin is still grateful for her patronage.

“I'm serious. Obviously the expedition didn't go as planned, but we wouldn't have had the opportunity were it not for your funding.”

Lady Geist sees it quite the other way. To her it was a squandered investment; she makes no secret of her hostility toward Kelvin, and her words read like a ledger of money thrown away.

“That's for squandering my investment.”

“Consider this the official removal of my funding.”

Dynamo is an old friend of Kelvin’s, and has read his book. Kelvin once opened his heart to him, wishing he had had his old friend with him on the expedition; the ending might have been different.

“I wish I had you on the expedition…”

For Kelvin, the expedition left behind more than regret. He thinks of the families of his crew mates, and knows full well that he has a year of lost time to make up for.

“I need to see the families of my crew mates…”

“Answers will have to wait…I have a year of lost time to make up for.”

“答案只能再等等…我有整整一年的时光要补回来。”TL

Both of the Patrons have the expedition on their minds, and both would use it to move Kelvin. The Archmother reminds him not to let the members of his expedition die in vain, and to summon her; The Hidden King says the expedition was no failure, but led Kelvin to this moment, so that he may finish what he started and summon The Hidden King.

“Don't let the members of your expedition die in vain. Summon The Archmother.”

“不要让你的远征队成员白白牺牲。召唤源祖吧”

“Your expedition wasn't a failure… it led you to this moment. Now finish what you started and summon The Hidden King.”

“你的探险并非失败… 它把你带到了这一刻。现在，完成你未竟的事业，召唤隐王吧”

Wraith once asked him point-blank what had happened on his expedition. Kelvin’s answer was a single honest admission: he does not know himself. The memory is gone from his mind, and finding it again is the very reason he is here.

“What happened on your expedition?”

“你的探险之旅发生了什么？”

“Correct. It's time I find answers.”

“没错。是时候找到答案了”
