The Execution at Lost Whisper

There are many rumors about what landed Seven in Lost Whisper — an oubliette for the most dangerous of occultists — but about what happened on the night of his execution, every account agrees.

That night, the most powerful ritualists of seven nations together placed wards around him and posted guards to hold them — all of it designed not only to keep any mystical interference from the execution, but at the same time to obliterate Seven’s soul, so that no one could ever contact, resurrect or otherwise make use of it. Onlookers watched as the head of the strongest mentalist in the US Army’s employ popped like a grape, and as Scotland Yard’s premier occult investigator — the one who allegedly captured Seven — crumbled to ash. Seven’s body buckled and writhed against his restraints, his skin burning with eldritch electricity, and yet he would not die. He laughed, and then he massacred the men who held him.

Looking back on that night, Seven thinks he was, if anything, magnanimous: they tried to eradicate his soul, and he merely destroyed their bodies.

“Please. They tried to eradicate my soul and I merely destroyed their bodies. If anything I was magnanimous.”

“拜托。他们想抹杀我的灵魂,我只是毁了他们的肉身。要说的话,我已经够宽宏大量了。”TL

Nor does he believe he ever had the worst of it. When Billy brought up the chair that being smart hadn’t saved him from, he insisted that when the authorities came for him, it was because they feared him — not because they mocked him.

“It didn't. But when they came for me it was because they feared me… not because they mocked me.”

“没躲过。但他们来抓我,是因为他们怕我……不是因为他们嘲笑我。”TL

To others, the whole affair has become a riddle. Dynamo admitted it was a touchy subject, yet still insisted on knowing how he had stopped his soul from being obliterated.

“I'm sure it's a touchy subject, but I simply must know how you stopped your soul from being obliterated”

“我敢肯定这是一个棘手的话题,但我只需要知道你是如何阻止你的灵魂被消灭的”

— Dynamo, to Seven

Victor, for his part, hinted that the state had once treated him the same way; Seven shot back: so the state tried to obliterate your soul from existence too?

“Oh, so the state tried obliterate your soul from existence?”

“哦,国家也曾试图把你的灵魂从世上抹去?”TL

— Seven, to Victor

Least impressed of all is Abrams. He doubts he needs life advice from someone who was caught and executed; Seven, for his part, holds up the simple fact that he still stands here as all the authority he needs.

“Yet here I stand. Perhaps you should consider that I know what I'm talking about.”

“但我还是站在这里。或许你应该想想,我知道自己在说什么”

— Seven, to Abrams

It was the authorities that moved against him back then; as for the full reasons behind it, nothing has been settled.
