The Runed Rock
A year and a half later, a fishing trawler found the body of Kelvin in the ice, his hand clutching a rock etched with glowing runes.
Since the Arctic Expedition, he has had no pulse, and his wounds do not bleed, yet he is still “alive.” By his own reckoning, the rock could be the only thing keeping him alive, so he won’t risk taking it off, not even to change his clothes.
“This glowing rock could be the only thing keeping me alive so I'm not risking taking it off.”
“这块发光的岩石可能是唯一能让我活下来的东西,所以我不会冒险把它摘下来”
Others see it differently. Bebop, who was himself summoned into existence, doesn’t mince words: he calls Kelvin nothing more than “a pseudo corpse with a glowing rock.”
“Not really. I was summoned into existence by an act of craftsmanship, willpower and sacrifice. There's a clear path that someone could replicate. You're a pseudo corpse with a glowing rock.”
“并非如此。我被召唤而来,是靠着精湛的技艺、强大的意志力和牺牲。有一条清晰的路径,可以供人复制。你只是一个故人,带着一块发光的石头”
Graves, after crossing paths with him, was sure that her mentor would love to get her hands on that stone.
“I bet my mentor would love to get her hands on that stone.”
“我敢肯定,我的导师一定很想得到那块石头”
Once Kelvin had fallen, all Deadman Danny could think about, of all things, was that rock of his: he really needed to get it to McGinnis, he said.
“I really need to get that rock of his to Maggie…”
“我真得把他那块石头带给麦吉……”TL
