Marlowe

Marlowe is Haze’s handler. She works for him, and whenever she speaks of him he is “my handler”; in Baba’s mouth, he is an “old boogeyman” who never talks about his old friends.

He is best known for his ties to a popular tale. Haze once explained that the man she works for is the very inspiration for the character Sephren — and insisted, more than once, that this was only “loosely” so.

“I work for Marlowe, who is loosely, and again I say loosely, the inspiration for Sephren.”

“我为马洛工作，马洛是塞弗伦的灵感来源，只是大致如此，我再次强调只是大致如此”

Marlowe’s reach extends well beyond Haze. He once had her tell Dynamo that the offer he had made still stood, and that it was “a good offer.”

“Marlowe wanted me to tell you that the offer still stands.”

“马洛让我转告你，这个提议仍然有效”

His old acquaintances are everywhere. Baba opened by asking whether he had retired yet, then, half in jest, complained to Haze that the old boogeyman never mentions her: “I’m hurt.”

“The old boogeyman doesn’t talk about me? I'm hurt.”

“那个老怪物都不提我吗？真伤心。”TL

Watching Haze at work, Baba was generous with her praise: Marlowe, she reckoned, had trained her well.

“Marlowe trained her well…”

“马洛把她调教得很好…”TL

Venator knows him too, and when Marlowe comes up, what he pokes fun at is the man’s habit of spinning stories; Calico, laughing with Haze, asked what Marlowe would say if he saw them right now.

Even after Haze has done her work, she weighs how she will explain it to him.

“This is gonna be tough to explain to Marlowe.”

“这很难跟马洛解释”
