Mendoza

Mendoza is a name in New York’s underworld. His power is known as the Mendoza Syndicate, and it is deeply tangled up with the streets of Spanish Harlem.

Infernus once did his dirty work, until Mendoza replaced him with someone else — a slight he has never got over. And the one who took his place was Vyper.

“Can't believe Mendoza replaced me someone like her.”

Mendoza’s decline cannot be separated from Ivy. Some say it was this vigilante who wrecked his operation and rode him out on a rail, and even Abrams says the whole city owes her a debt for it.

“The city owe you a debt for taking care of Mendoza.”

With his operation in ruins, Vyper, who does his work for him, admits as well that Mendoza barely works for Mendoza anymore.

“Mendoza barely works for Mendoza anymore, that gargoyle really messed up his operation.”

For Ivy, Mendoza was bound up with a lifelong calling as a vigilante. With Mendoza gone, she says, she may be ready to find a career.

“Oh, my whole life. It was a calling, but with Mendoza gone I think I'm ready to find a career.”

Mr. and Mrs. Romero were killed by Mendoza’s goons; Ivy later caught the ones responsible.

“I doubt that. They were killed by Mendoza's goons.”
