Lich Hand

The Lich Hand is a severed hand. It once lay buried in a lead-lined box; now it goes everywhere with Graves, at once the power this young woman leans on and the source of a world of trouble for her.

Asked where it came from, Graves named only a place: Van Cortlandt Park. She added that it had been buried in a lead box, mind you — it was not as if it had been left on a random bench.

Wherever the hand shows itself, every eye turns to it. Ivy saw at a glance what she was holding.

“I don't want to make this awkward, but I think that's a lich hand you're holding.”

“我不想让气氛尴尬，不过……你手里拿的好像是英灵的手。”TL

Those Who Covet It

Far too many people want it. McGinnis is itching to get hold of it, wanting only to experiment on it, and has been turned down by Graves twice in a row. Mo & Krill opened by asking whether it was for sale, and even after being refused would not let the idea go; Vyper first asked how much the hand was worth, and on hearing that it would not be handed over, declared that she would take it one way or the other.

Venator demanded that she give up the hand, and met with just as blunt a refusal. Paradox is more unhurried about it: as a “courtesy,” Paradox let her know that someone from Paradox would be coming for the hand — then turned around and declared that she would take it, one way or another.

“I'm taking that lich hand, one way or another.”

Who Is Using Whom

The most unsettling claim is that the hand is no dead thing to be wielded at will. Grey Talon does not mince words: he believes Graves is already in its grip, and has even been working out how much time she has left.

“You're not using that lich hand, Graves, it's using you.”

Mo & Krill, too, has held it up as a warning — a lesson on the dangers of obeying a lich hand.

“Let this be a lesson on the dangers of obeying a Lich hand.”

The sight of the hand gives Lash the creeps. He is convinced the kid is being used by it, and has even told her to her face that if it ever gives her trouble, he will deal with it for her.

“Leave the kid alone, lich.”

“放过那孩子，你这英灵。”TL

Calico said outright that carrying it is a terrible idea, but has no wish to get in the way. Graves had seen that lecture coming.

Even Deadman Danny wouldn’t swing the hand around willy-nilly; he is especially wary of it, and cannot work out where on earth she found it.

“Where the hell did she find a lich hand?”
