She who quenched flame by thought
She was a daughter of the Ixians, and married the son of Grey Talon. She could, it is said, snuff out flame with a thought, a gift that would later become the most unsettling detail of a tragedy.
Grey Talon is forever glimpsing her in other people.
“You remind me of my daughter in law.”
“你让我想起了我的儿媳”
Paige reminds him of her, and, asked whether he liked her, he answered without a moment’s doubt: “Very much so.” When Abrams asked in surprise whether his son had married an Ixian, Grey Talon answered only, “Yeah.”
“Son married an Ixian?”
“儿子娶了伊克斯亚人？”
Her death is bound up with the House Fire: the fire consumed his son’s house, and no one escaped. The authorities called it an accident, but Grey Talon did not believe it — how could someone who could snuff out flame perish in a blaze? He has since picked up his bow once more. To Apollo, who had taken the wrong side, he once said that if she could see this, she would be so disappointed.
