Johann Geist
Johann Geist was a German painter, now dead, and the husband of Lady Geist. Works of his such as Die Zitadelle and Verloren in der Stille still resonate with the young.
Graves once asked her whether she was related to the painter, and her whole answer was a single line:
“He was my husband.”
“他是我丈夫。”TL
Graves had once written a paper about the painter for a humanities class, and holds Verloren in der Stille in the highest regard.
“"Verloren in der Stille" is amazing.”
“《Verloren in der Stille》太精彩了。”TL
Now the Museum of Modern Art has announced a special gallery showcasing the artist’s work.
“The Museum of Modern art recently announced a special gallery showcasing the work of late german artist Johann Geist.”
“现代艺术博物馆近日宣布将开设一个特别展厅,展出已故德国艺术家约翰·盖斯特的作品”
His name is tangled up, too, in the feud with Paradox. Face to face with Paradox, Lady Geist once said bitterly:
“First my husband, now me… when will Paradox stay out of my life!”
“先是我的丈夫,现在又是我,悖论…什么时候才能从我的生活中消失!”
Violet, too, once asked Lady Geist what the painter was like, and having heard, said with feeling that he was amazing. While painting the lady’s portrait, she even threw down a challenge to the painter by name:
“That's right, Johann, I'm coming for your ass.”
“没错,约翰,我这就去找你算账。”TL
Word on the Street
“Her husband wouldn't recognize what she's become”
“她丈夫要是看到她变成这样,肯定认不出来。”TL
