The Paradox Museum

The Paradox Museum is a pop-up exhibition run by Paradox, displaying stolen antiquities and the leverage she holds over people. When Paradox talks about putting the museum together she always says “we”: before it can open, they must first secure a few more items worth seeing, and for now the gallery is not yet open.

“We're securing a few more items of interest; but hopefully the gallery will be open shortly.”

“我们正在筹备一些其他展品;希望画廊很快就能开放”

— Paradox, to Wraith

The pieces being readied include blackmail on Fairfax Industries, the Ghent Altarpiece and the Tome of Anubis. Wraith once remarked that she thought those were at the MET, and all she got back was an airy “Sure it is.”

“Blackmail on Fairfax, The Ghent Altarpiece, The Tome of Anubis….”

“《菲尔法克斯勒索信》,《根特祭坛画》,《阿努比斯之书》…”

— Paradox, to Wraith

Graves has been to its exhibitions; her favorite was the one two years ago, the blackmail-forward one.

“Oh that was the blackmail-forward one, right?”

“哦,那个勒索对吧?”

— Paradox, to Graves

Not everyone is sold. Lady Geist came last summer, and her verdict was a multimillion exhibition with all the emotional depth of a tenth grader’s homework.

“It was a multimillion exhibition with the emotional depth of a 10th grader writing "I will rage against conformity" in their poetry unit of remedial English.”

“这是一场耗资数百万美元的展览,其情感深度却如同十年级学生在英语补习课诗歌单元中写出的“我要反抗墨守成规”一般浅薄”

— Lady Geist, to Paradox

Paradox’s gaze reaches well beyond the gallery walls: she has her eye on the Rat King's Crown and would like to put Nashala's Vessel in a display case, while Mirage vows that Ambassador Nashala will never end up in one of her museums.

“Your crown will be a nice addition to The Paradox Museum”

“你的王冠将成为悖论博物馆的绝佳藏品”

— Paradox, to Rat King
“Nashala won't end up in one of your museums, Paradox.”

“那沙拉不会出现在你的任何一个博物馆里,悖论”

— Mirage, to Paradox

She has even had designs on Rem: should the ritual go bad, she figures, she ought to kidnap him for the museum.

“If the ritual goes bad, I should kidnap him for the Paradox museum.”

“如果仪式出了差错,我应该把他绑到悖论博物馆去”

— Paradox, to Rem

Vyper was once kicked out of the museum, and she still hasn’t let it go.

“Maybe next time you guys shouldn't kick me out of the Paradox museum.”

“下次你们或许不该把我赶出悖论博物馆”

— Vyper, to Paradox

Not even Kelvin was spared. Paradox asked whether he had any trinkets he’d be willing to donate to the museum, and admitted they had long planned to pay his home a call during the ritual — though whether her colleague had already let themselves into his home, who could say.

“Who's to say: we definitely planned on robbing you during the ritual, but my colleague may or may not have broken into your home yet.”

“谁知道呢:我们当然计划在仪式期间光顾你家,但我的同事可能已经进去了,也可能还没有”

— Paradox, to Kelvin

Violet is a regular here as well: she has been to three Paradox Museums and calls them “Incredible stuff.” She has also mused, half wistfully, that the painting under her brush might end up in the museum someday.

“Maybe this will end up in the Paradox Museum someday”

“也许有一天会被收藏到悖论博物馆里”

— Violet, to Paradox
