The Shopkeeper

Among the streets and alleys of New York, the owner of the Curiosity Shop is a face nearly everyone knows. He is a comic talker who loves to chew over the news and loves the ball games even more; whichever hero pushes through his door, he always has a line waiting.
His greeting is never far from his lips:
“Welcome to my shop of curiosity…”
“欢迎来到我的奇物商店……”
His shelves hold everything under the sun. He has never kept to a single line of trade: guns, trinkets, even tickets to South Pacific — in his mouth, any of them becomes a sale:
“Watchu looking for? Guns? Trinkets? Tickets to South Pacific?”
“在找什么？枪？饰品？去南太平洋的机票？”
The Regulars
With customers he knows, he is especially warm. He once told Kelvin that he had seen his share of wights, and that this customer was a mensch:
“I've seen my share of wights, and you Kelvin… you're a mensch.”

Shiv, too, he counts among his familiar faces. At parting, he wishes the assassin long nights and true aim:
“Shiv, may your nights be long and your aim be true”

Family and Business
He is not alone in the world. He once admitted that his kid had told him all the mystics were buying a certain item — though what it does, he couldn’t tell you himself:
“I won't lie, I don't know what that does but my kid says all the mystics are buying it.”

He also has a younger brother who keeps a shop of his own, and he speaks of it with some disdain:
“My brother's shop is for tourists… this is the real New York experience.”

The Gambling-Debt Rumor
The New York Oracle once reported that the Knickerbockers center Nathan had been found with his legs broken, and that the matter was rumored to involve a gambling debt to a Madison Avenue curio shop owner:
“Late last night, Nathan Veiss, the center for the Knickerbockers, was found with their legs broken. Reports that it involved a gambling debt to a madison avenue curio shop owner have yet to be substaniated”

Whatever the rumors say, his door stays open as ever.
