Fairfax Industries

Fairfax Industries is a family firm built on armaments and invention. It owns a mercenary subsidiary, Eldritch Tactical Solutions, which does for its clients the dirty work no one else will touch.

The company’s Military R&D department is headed by McGinnis. She keeps to the machine shop, and to her, science is magic you can touch. About her own position she is perfectly frank:

“Do I love working for Fairfax industries? No. Does it pay a small fortune? Yes. How do I sleep at night? Like a baby.”

“我喜不喜欢给菲尔法克斯实业干活？不喜欢。钱给得多不多？多得很。那晚上怎么睡？跟婴儿一样香。”TL

Beyond the high pay, the firm has also earned itself a great deal of infamy. As Viscous sees it, it has a lot to answer for:

“Fairfax Industries has a lot to answer for.”

The family itself is just as deeply divided. Pocket, born into it, once called himself its rightful heir, yet he also curses it, saying it needs to die. As for the family’s other members, McGinnis says Pocket’s mother is “a real bitch” and his sister takes after her — see Pocket's mother and Pocket's sister. Graves, though, is convinced: once a Fairfax, always a Fairfax.

“To hell with Fairfax industries, I just want peace.”

Its enemies are found in every walk of life. Billy never stops complaining about it, Venator proclaims that its avarice ends today, Warden insists it needs to fall, and Rat King goes further still, swearing it’s gonna burn and calling the EPA nothing but one of its shell corporations.

“Fairfax isn't god, McGinnis.”

“菲尔法克斯不是神，麦金妮”

Its secrets are coveted too. On Paradox’s list is blackmail on Fairfax, and she has pressed McGinnis to her face about what secrets she is hiding for the company.

“What secrets are you hiding for Fairfax, McGinnis?”

“你为菲尔法克斯隐藏了什么秘密，麦金妮？”

Kelvin has no patience for the firm either. In his eyes, McGinnis deserves more than being a lackey for Maximilian Fairfax, and she made her choice the moment she signed with the company.

“You made your choice when you signed with Fairfax Industries…”

Not all of the firm’s employees bear a grudge. Deadman Danny calls himself “a company man,” treats every fight as a product demonstration, and shows off the company’s new weapons before a crowd.

“I’m a company man it wouldn’t feel right to work for anyone who’s not Maximilian Fairfax”

“我是公司的人，给马克西米利安·菲尔法克斯以外的任何人干活，都觉得不对劲。”TL

Billy damns him as part of this war machine; Seven warns him not to trust the company, but he answers that the company’s vision is his vision.

The young Violet is repelled by this kind of devotion to a corporation, and makes no secret of her loathing for the company.

“Fairfax Industries can go to hell”

Yet when Deadman Danny pitched her a stain remover that works even on oil paint, she was genuinely interested. Afterwards he did not forget to suggest that she might make a future for herself in the company’s art department, or in an internship there.

Deadman Danny also pitched Nurse Harrow: the company, he told her, was ready to revolutionize the possessed child industry. She only asked whether he always runs his mouth like this.

“Now what if I told you that Fairfax Industries was ready to revolutionize the possessed child industry?  Would you be interested or extremely interested?”
