The 7th Moon

The 7th Moon is a criminal organization born in Japan. Yamato, who took up her brother’s name, carried it across the sea to New York, intent on making the city her own. As she sees it, New York belongs to the 7th Moon.

The newcomer soon drew declarations from every quarter. Some fear its spread: Paradox and Infernus both proclaim that it will never run New York; Dynamo insists it will never take root here; Warden swears he won’t let it get a foothold in New York, calling this the beginning of the end for the 7th Moon. Abrams vows to put a stop to it, yet has also told Yamato that he is sorry about her brother.

“I won't let the 7th Moon get a foothold in New York.”

Others want only to draw a line. Wraith, though she says outright that she doesn’t bow to the 7th Moon, has told Yamato that their two operations don’t need to be enemies. Billy, for his part, told Wraith that while she is busy kissing babies, the 7th Moon is going to eat her lunch. Ivy warns that it had better not expand into Spanish Harlem, and Baba means to keep its people out of Soho.

“Lady; you don't want to be a crime lord, you want to be mayor. And while you're kissing babies the 7th Moon is going to eat your lunch.”

The 7th Moon’s fearsome name has reached the streets as well. Vyper once hoped to get in with it, and Yamato flatly turned her down; she also tells of a guy who owed the 7th Moon a c-note and ended up murdered by Yamato. McGinnis, after besting Yamato, worried that she had pissed off the 7th Moon, yet still mocked her for running a mere street gang while she herself drives the occult industrial complex. Shiv claims he isn’t scared, then mutters that it will probably be gunning for him now.

Some come knocking of their own accord. Mo & Krill urge Yamato to be more open to collaboration, for then the 7th Moon would thrive; Calico offers her help at rather reasonable rates, only to be turned down flat by Yamato; and Mirage doesn’t like the idea of Nashala being associated with the 7th Moon.

“Well, if it gets big enough it stops being a gang and starts being a cartel. That's usually when my superiors start thinking about having me kill you in your sleep.”

After besting Yamato, Kelvin loudly proclaimed that the 7th Moon’s time ends tonight.

“The 7th Moon's time ends tonight!”

Deadman Danny regards the 7th Moon with both wariness and disdain: he reminds himself not to piss off the gang, yet also declares that Fairfax Industries wouldn’t be caught dead doing business with it.

Far from gloating after besting Yamato, Violet was thrown into a panic: she felt she had pissed off the 7th Moon, even thought she might have to change her wish, and feared above all that Yamato would find her after the ritual and cut off her hands.
