Lenny

Lenny is a knife thrower with the Sideshow, and the one person Celeste can never let go of. She thinks of him as family, and as she sees it, his biggest trouble is himself.

Lenny, it is said, has a weakness for gambling. He took out a marker, then sold off part of his soul because of it. Abrams doesn’t mince words about it:

“He never should've taken out a marker.”

“他压根不该借那个赌债”

It isn’t that Celeste never tried to tell him; it’s just that everyone knows Lenny. Among the people who know him, saying so has all but become a catchphrase — Wraith and Solomon have both said the very same thing — and someone has even turned his name into a verb.

“I'm sorry Celeste, but Lenny is always gonna Lenny”

“对不起，赛凌，但莱尼就是改不了莱尼的性子。”TL

Wraith warns Celeste not to take the fall for him, saying she can’t help Lenny; yet she also allows that Lenny is a good guy.

“Don't take the fall for Lenny, Celeste.”

“别替莱尼顶罪，赛凌。”TL

Lenny’s trouble with Lash happened in the Bear Pit. Celeste later settled that score with Lash on his behalf; Lash, for his part, says Lenny should have come to him for help.

“That’s for what you did to Lenny in the Bear Pit.”

“这是对你在熊坑里对莱尼所作所为的惩罚”

Abrams, too, has told Celeste that there are other ways to help Lenny, and that she ought to have come to him for help. But Celeste would not be moved: to buy back his soul, she left the stage behind and set out for New York. Her vow is simple and steadfast:

“I won't let you down Lenny…”

“我不会让你失望的，莱尼……”TL

Not everyone believes he is worth it. The Doorman insists that even if his soul is bought back, Lenny will just sell it again the next time it’s convenient.

“Your found family is doomed, Celeste. Even if you save Lenny's soul now, do you really think he won't just sell it again the next time it's convenient?”

“赛凌，你找到的这个家注定会毁灭。就算你现在救回莱尼的灵魂，你真以为他下次有机可乘时不会再把它卖掉吗？”TL
