The Soho Coven

The Soho Coven is a coven of witches based in Soho. Baba counts herself its backbone, and considers looking after the coven her own obligation.

When she speaks of it, her voice is full of pride.

“I'm making the soho coven proud”

“我让苏活区女巫会感到骄傲。”TL

“I know how to keep my coven-mates in line”

“我知道怎么管住我的女巫同伴。”TL

Nor does she leave anyone in doubt that the coven is not to be trifled with.

“The Soho coven doesn't mess around”

Reputation

After putting Baba down, Haze said she would have to look into the coven; Celeste is wary of it, afraid the coven will come after her. Rat King is far less polite, laughing in Baba’s face that it ain’t what it used to be.

“The Soho Coven ain't what it used to be, huh Bubbe?”

“苏活女巫会不如从前了，是吧，奶奶？”TL

“Her coven better not come after me.”

“她的女巫会最好别来找我麻烦。”TL

“I'm going to have to look into the Soho coven...”

Baba once mentioned a tattoo guy in Soho who used to work for the coven, but has his own shop now.

“I got a tattoo guy there that might be able to help you. Good kid. Used to work for the coven, but has his own shop now - The Wizard's Sleeve or something like that. Anyway, If those markings mean anything, he'll know.”

Even when she brings down Nurse Harrow, Baba makes a point of invoking the coven’s name.

Invitations

Baba once invited Abrams to help the coven with a fertility ritual; afterward she told him he should have gone to the coven for help. She also asked the Doorman whether he would mind if she brought the whole coven along.

“I'm just saying, if you want to help the Soho coven with a fertility ritual, the offer's open.”

“You should have gone to the Soho coven for help.”

Withering on the Vine

The Hidden King says the Soho Coven “withers on the vine,” and that completing the Ritual will breathe new life into its ranks. The Archmother puts her promise to Baba another way: the ritual will be finished by Baba’s own hand, and no one will usurp her rightful place. Both Patrons are courting the witch, and each has named a price.

“The Soho Coven withers on the vine. Complete the Ritual, and breathe new life into its ranks.”

“The Ritual will be finished by your hand. The Archmother will let no one usurp your rightful place.”

Even the papers have had their fun with the witches: Bunko, the party game, is to the coven a little of both — a pastime, and a ritual component.
