Wyoming Land Purchase
The Djinn’s dream of nationhood
It is the hope of the Djinn that, through negotiation, they can buy part of Wyoming from the United States Federal Government, so that their people may have a sovereign nation of their own. Mirage believes in it utterly, and keeps it in mind even in the thick of the fighting.
“Soon, Wyoming will be ours!”
“不久之后,怀俄明州将属于我们!”
Few, however, give the deal much chance. Holliday asked him point-blank whether the US would really go along with it.
“You really think the US is going to sell Wyoming to the Djinn?”
“你真的认为美国会把怀俄明州卖给镇尼吗?”
Mirage’s answer was that the US is interested in money and power, and the Djinn can offer both. Haze, for her part, declared that she is no politician: her approval will neither help nor hinder.
“I'm not a politician Mirage, my approval will neither help nor hinder the Djinn's chances of buying Wyoming.”
“我不是政客,蜃景,我的批准既不会帮助也不会阻碍镇尼购买怀俄明州的机会”
When Haze remarked that buying a state was hard to picture, Mirage pointed to history: it would not be the first time.
“It's how you got Louisiana.”
“你们就是这样得到路易斯安那州的”
The Doorman dismisses it outright as a pipe dream and pronounces the Djinn doomed; Billy flatly vows not to let Mirage have his way.
“Wyoming is a pipe dream, Mirage... the Djinn are doomed.”
“怀俄明州只是个白日梦,蜃景……镇尼注定要失败”
“You ain't buying Wyoming.”
“你买不到怀俄明州”
